Countryside atmosphere in the capital region

Rental apartment in serene Soukka

Soukka in Espoo is full of beautiful nature, but the district is also brimming with active life. We put together the best tips for exploring the neighborhood as well as vacant rental apartments.

Things you didn’t know: The vast majority of the buildings in Soukka were constructed by SATO, and we have been involved in the area’s land use planning from the very beginning. Our two low-energy buildings are also located in Soukka: Soukanniementie 1 and Kilvoituksentie 1

1. Horse riding for all rider levels

Established in Soukka in 1974, this riding school caters for all rider levels. The youngest ones can start on ponies as soon as they are able to remain focused for about half an hour. For riders who are more advanced in age and skills, there are weekend competitions and training sessions.

2. Paradise for crafters

The arts and crafts shop Menita was opened around ten years ago at the Soukka shopping centre. Crafters at various skills levels will find supplies from wool to needles in the shop, with regular customers all the way from England visiting the shop. Menita also organises courses for experienced crafters as well as beginners.

3. For the model aircraft club only the sky’s the limit

Active since 1985, the model aircraft club has got many Soukka locals hooked on radio-controlled aeronautics. Members get together a couple of nights a week to build their aircraft in the clubroom. At weekends it is time to fly them at the Ämmässuo RC aircraft field. Model aircraft construction is a great way to improve skills such as patience.

4. Perfecting your camera skills

What better way to get to know your local neighbourhood than grabbing your camera and taking a walk around the area. The Soukan Kamerat ry camera club often heads for the Suvisaaristo island district for photo sessions, and Nuuksio National Park is not too far away, either. Anyone interested in photography can join the club. At the club evenings, members listen to lectures, learn image processing and look at photos. The club also organises photo excursions and competitions. There are also sessions where photos are viewed on the big screen for a much greater experience than on the computer screen. Seeing other people’s work and asking questions is a good way to learn new things about photography.

5. Plenty going on at Soukka Library

Providing entertainment and education and located close to SATO RentHomes, Soukka Library is packed with stories. You should not let the building’s sombre concrete appearance fool you as inside in the library the atmosphere is very warm. A vast variety of events take place at the library for kids to grandparents. You can practise your English at the Language Cafe or learn how to build Lego robots in the Friday workshop.
